Materials

We manufacture the best track and field equipment available because we start with the best materials available.  From fabric, to stainless steel linkages, to even our thread, everything that goes into a Richey pit is the strongest, most durable material on the market.  And it's all manufactured here in the United States.

Stainless Steel Linkages.  Stainless steel never rusts or corrodes.  It will last longer than anything on the pit.

Brass Snap Hooks with Stainless Steel Springs.  Like stainless steel, brass never corrodes.  The advantage to using brass for the snaps, however, lies in it's ability to bend when too much stress is applied.  In the event of a wind storm or a forgotten unsnapping, the hook will bend and disengage before the fabric tears.  Being brass, it easily bends back thereby minimizing costly repairs.

Nylon Zippers.  Nylon zippers never corrode or disintegrate.

Nylon Webbing.  Tensile tested to 3500 pounds, this webbing is what we use to hold all of our stainless steel linkages.  Heat sealed on each end, it is resistant to fraying and tearing out due to wear.

Mesh.  Polyester thread, vinyl coated then woven and then ironed to set the fabric, this mesh is the strongest, most robust fabric in the industry.

Fabric.  Twenty-two ounce vinyl coated nylon, the thickest in the industry.  We use fabric coated on both sides with the thicker side out to face the elements.

Thread.  Bonded 207 nylon, the thread we use in our pits is almost twice as thick as the industry standard (138 nylon).
